As a member of the Winnacunnet community, you are given an opportunity to involve yourself in the three A's of high school life: Academics, Athletics, and Activities. You will decide the extent to which you will be involved in each or all of these. Our school offers many opportunities for participation in all three areas to help make your high school years the total experience that, at its best, high school can be. Seeking OpportunitiesStudent activities are grouped in four areas. Consider the many possibilities presented to you. You may involve yourself in one or many. Think about those for which you have the interest, ability, and also about those which might present a challenge for you. Notification of these activities will usually be included in the morning announcements and advertised on posters. For more information about who to contact, stop at the Career Information Center. Student Activities Career Information CenterThe Career Reference section has resources that tell about career areas (Occupational Outlook Handbook), give ideas about jobs and little-known occupations (Dictionary of Occupational Titles), and explain the kind of skills and abilities needed for each job group (Guide for Occupation Exploration), as well as other comprehensive guides. If you are looking for information on individual occupations, we have that under specific titles as in the Career References bookshelf and in the Occupational File. In additional to printed materials, the Center is well-stocked with career related videos. Assessing one's interest is a key to discovering a career path. Among the computer programs available that will help you survey your interests and abilities are Career Choices, Career View, and the Occupational Outlook Handbook CD. To help you with your college search, we have Choices and College View, a multimedia program that offers applications on-line, info-zap, and e-mail. These two programs also offer scholarship information. In addition, the CIC offers access to the Internet to further your explorations and a special program on the NH National Guard.
