Ms. Trahan and Ms. Turcotte would like to thank all 2012 council members for their participation this year. As advisors we are especially proud of the council’s dedication to community service. This group not only created the first volunteer night but have many other big hearted ideas in the works for future service projects.
The class of 2012 had amazing success fundraising with Yankee Candles! The class had 130 students take their sales skills to the streets and sold almost 12,000 dollars worth of candles and profited 5000 dollars from those sales.
We are hoping for similar results next year with our cookie dough fundraiser starting September 2. Class of 2012, please continue your enthusiasm, we can’t wait till next year!
2012 T-shirts will be on sale the first week of school. T-shirt design TBA. Get your school spirit early!

Attention Freshmen, Sophomores, and Juniors!! FRESH START is back and in need of freshmen, sophomores and juniors who want to be counselors during the 3-day program from August 18-20, 2009. Fresh Start is an orientation camp designed to help the incoming freshman class transition to Winnacunnet. All counselors will receive community service hours.
If interested, please see Ms. Price in Mr. Weaver’s office and pick up an application or download the application here on-line. All applications must be turned in by May 29, 2009. If you have any questions, contact Mr. Testa or Mr. Handwork.
Student Portal
September 1, 2009 - The student portal will not be available until late September.
WHS has opened the student portal. Students will be able to check their grades and recorded attendance in their classes. Usernames and passwords will be disseminated during all lunches on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Students will need to show their student ID to get their username and password. Friday morning there will be a presentation on WHTV which will explain to students how they can access the portal.
Teachers have been asked take a few minutes in class to explain to students that they should not expect to see assignments graded and posted immediately. In fact, students should know that it can take at least 10 school days for an assignment’s grade to be posted (and some lengthier assignments may even take longer).
To access the parent portal, you first need to go to its website. Please read through the Quickstart document and the Student/Parent Manual. Parents need to return the Parent Portal Verification Page (last page of the manual) to be issued their username and password.

Community Service:
The custodians could use an extra hand to clean up the school before parents arrive for conferences.
We will be cleaning from 2:45 pm-5 pm. These hours can be used towards Community Service-See Ms. Petrou for the paper work.
Fundraising:
We will be selling refreshments during parent conferences. We will need students to sell refreshments from 4:45 pm-8:15 pm
Attend our next meeting to sign up for any of these events or bring new ideas to the council!
