21st Century Core Values and Beliefs
Language and communication are at the heart of human experience. We must educate students who are equipped linguistically and culturally to communicate successfully in a pluralistic society both at home and abroad. This imperative envisions a future in which students will develop and maintain proficiency in English and at least one other world language. In order to accomplish the above, students will:
- communicate effectively in languages other than English
- gain knowledge and understanding and perspective of other cultures
- connect with other disciplines and acquire information relative to world language and culture
- develop insight into the nature of language and culture
- participate in multilingual communities at home and around the world
