This link will take you to an 1859 map of London that can be magnified and moved. Here's another map from 1818. See if you can figure out where Tellson's Bank would have been. Check out this map for hints.

This link will take you to a site that lists the prisoners from Newgate Prison (where prisoners awaiting trial at the old Baily would be kept). If you remember, there were hints about poor prison conditions in Charles Darnay's trial. The second part of this site includes the names and crimes of those Newgate Prisoner's executed. Take note of the some of the early crimes. They seem to have a more pecuniary nature than the ones that came later in the 1800's. The current Old Bailey was built upon the site of the old Newgate Prison.

Check out the cool map at the top of this page. You can see where St. Antoine is in relationship to the center of Paris. You can also see where the walled in portion of the city was.

One of the gruesome icons of the French Revolutions was the guillotine. Here you can read about its historical use and development.
