Vaping Information

Dear WHS Community,
According to the National Center on Addiction and Substance Abuse, approximately 1-6 high school students used e-cigarettes during the last 30 days. E-cigarettes are one example of what it is referred to as an Electronic NicotineDelivery Systems (ENDS). Vapes, Vape Pens, Hookahs and E-Cigars are other examples of ENDS. Please take a few minutes to educate yourself and your Teen regarding the dangers of these devices. ENDS use batteries to heat liquid nicotine and other “flavorings” to create  a gas or vapor to inhale. This results in a nicotine “buzz” or “rush.”

These devices can also be used to inhale marijuana as they may mask the smell of the drug. One of the biggest dangers of “vaping” nicotine is nicotine poisoning. Nicotine poisoning  can lead to a nicotine overdose. This happens when there is too much nicotine in the body.  Please refer to the article describing the signs and symptoms of nicotine poisoning.
We have also included other valuable information that are quick reads on “Vaping.”
